Halloween and Autumn bring hopes for cooler weather and holidays; Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all around the corner of time!
For many years Westminster has supported La Casa de San Gabriel, a little mission with big goals. Operated by a small staff and numerous volunteers they serve the working poor of San Gabriel Valley. We want to give any help our small church can muster! They run a nursery school and a food bank currently. In Non- Covid 19, times they have homework tutoring, parent Education in computer use, English classes as well as nursery school lunch program and the above mentioned food bank to name some of their work.
Each month at WPC TC we designate a non perishable food for our members and friends to bring to church. We deliver what we collect to La Casa for their food pantry. Right now with so many of the working poor which they serve struggling with lay offs and reduced hours La Casa’s efforts are most needed and appreciated.
At Thanksgiving each year we collect foods for Thanksgiving Meal baskets. We try to do as many as we can. This year especially these will be needed. At our annual trunk or treat we will be collecting non perishable foods for La Casa Thanksgiving baskets and or food bank. A canned veggie can be a great trick to exchange for your treat if you’d like to help! Items can be brought to the Sunday service Sun., Nov. 6th at 11am.
Items for TG baskets- Canned veggies, sweet potatoes/yams, mashed potato packages, cranberry, canned or packets of gravy, boxed stuffing/dressing, $10 Ralph’s or Grocery Outlet gift cards for turkey or ham.
Food pantry items can be any non perishable- such as pasta, peanut butter, water packed tuna, beans, rice, oatmeal, unsugared cereal, mac&cheese, coffee/tea, canned vegetables, canned fruits, etc.
